Native engine, web delivery
Counter-Strike 1.6 Powered by WebAssembly
CSJS brings the Xash3D FWGS runtime to the browser. WebAssembly executes the engine, the canvas renders the game, and WebSockets connect directly to the native dedicated server.

A complete browser runtime
Running the engine is only one part of the job. CSJS also adapts files, graphics, networking, and input for the web.
Engine
Compiled with Emscripten
The Xash3D FWGS codebase is built as JavaScript and WebAssembly so modern browsers can execute the game runtime.
Rendering
GLES on canvas
The engine's GLES-compatible renderer draws through the browser canvas while preserving the familiar Counter-Strike 1.6 presentation.
Networking
Native server WebSockets
The native engine receives browser game packets over WebSockets and native client packets over UDP in the same server process.
Runtime
Browser-native launch
The client initializes Xash3D inside the browser and coordinates rendering, input, audio, and networking.
What happens when you join
The website hands the selected server to a framework-independent browser client.
- 01
Initialize the client
CSJS prepares the canvas, browser controls, audio, and networking for the selected server.
- 02
Start the engine
The WebAssembly runtime configures the renderer and launches Xash3D FWGS.
- 03
Connect to the server
The client opens a WebSocket directly to the native server and exchanges binary game packets.
Questions
Is CSJS a recreation of Counter-Strike 1.6?
No. CSJS compiles the Xash3D FWGS engine for the web with Emscripten and WebAssembly, then connects it to browser-specific storage, input, and networking.
How does a browser connect to a Counter-Strike 1.6 server?
The browser client sends game packets over a WebSocket directly to the native Xash3D dedicated server.
